SAP  Next Business and Technology  is  an  integral  part  of  the  company’s  research &  development  activities,  SAP Next Business and Technology  is  responsible  for  identifying,  researching,  developing  and  evaluating  new  and emerging  technologies,  processes  and  e-business  solutions  that  strategically influence the future of SAP business applications. SAP Next Business and Technology is a global business unit under the direction of SAP AG, operating research centres in several countries. These centres  are  usually  co-located  with  academic  partners  and  focused  on  specific  research  topics.  Depending on the particular needs of the projects, SAP Next Business and Technology will consider to distribute work packages among its locations in order to engage Researchers with the required expertise.

SAP has been the main driver behind the design of the Service Delivery Framework and the Unified Service Description Language (USDL) and is currently focusing on applying USDL in several strategically important domains. Besides, SAP currently leads the design and specification of the application and services ecosystems and delivery platform as part of the Future Internet core platform (FI-WARE). Furthermore, SAP investigates domain-specific applications of USDL and SDF in a number of publicly funded research projects (e.g., MSEE in the manufacturing domain or FINEST in the transport and logistics domain). Consequently, SAP will bring in its expertise in this area to apply it to the quality assurance and optimisation problem in the cloud enterprise service brokerage. SAP will lead WP30 Brokerage Framework Specification and put main focus on the tasks for (i) Methods and tools for the description of enterprise cloud services and (ii) Interfaces for enabling brokerage in cloud platforms.
